This website is meant to provide easy access to Fails-To-Deliver data, and hopefully make it easier to visualize and compare individual symbols to the overall totals.
What are Failures to Deliver?
The number of shares that failed to be delivered as of a particular settlement date. Fails to deliver (FTD) on a given day are a cumulative
number of all fails outstanding until that day, plus new fails that occur that day, less fails that settle that day. The total FTD on any given day may have
little or no relationship to the previous day's fails.
How are the aggregate totals calculated?
For the daily totals, aggregate fails-to-deliver is the total number of fails-to-deliver recorded in the National Securities Clearing Corporation's (NSCC) Continuous
Net Settlement (CNS) system aggregated over all NSCC members.
For the weekly totals, the daily totals are added together to get the total number of FTDs for that week.
Where did the data come from?
The data is from the
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The SEC publishes new data approximately every two weeks, and I try to upload it here as soon as possible after that. I process the information as I get it from
the SEC, but there is always the possibility of human error. I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the data.
